Alteren Retreat, is it a Christian Retreat?
"Christian Retreat" were the words originally included in the meta-tags (behind the page tags used to inform search engines about how to characterize the web page) on the original Alteren web page, and so I included the fact that one factor of the Alteren Project was a "Christian Retreat" in my article. On May 6th I received a frenzied phone call from Stephen Stark (President) accusing me of getting it wrong, saying that is not the image they want to project, and his people were very upset about it. I explained that I had not gotten it wrong as the words were included on the website intended to reach search engines. That was a way of attracting publicity for Christians seeking a retreat. All I did was put up front what was hidden in the html web code.
He was very distressed, accusing me of being inaccurate and requested that I remove the word "Christian" from my article, and he would have the words "Christian" removed from their web page. He claimed that the tags was "Inadvertently" placed there by the web page designer. Later that evening, I saw that he had removed those tags on the website, so I gave it some deep thought. Was I on the mark discovering and revealing the real focus of the project, or was it indeed the actions of an enthusiastic web designer, and not the intent of the founders of Alteren? Not being able to discern the exact details, I decided to change the wording of the article, but add this explanation of the facts and let readers decide for themselves.
Personally, I don't .see why they should have gotten their shorts all in a bunch. After all, being Christian is not a Bad thing.
